I have 4 silver dollars ranging from 3-4 inches in a 30 gallon tank with a 7 inch red pacu and 3 very small tiger barbs. I had 5 tiger barbs but the pacu made a nice snack out of them. Very skittish these fish, but not even close to the pacu. The pacu will not even come out from behind his plants until all the lights off in my room. He does feed from my hand though so that is kinda cool! I have a 10 gallon tank which i use to raise my baby fish. So far i have 3 1.5 inch silver dollars and 2 2 inch red pacus, 2 1 inch albino cory cats and a baby turtle all in a 10 gallon tank! they could not be happier! I feed all my fish blood worms, frozen shrimp, floating and sinking pellets. the turtle is getting braver now and nips the food out of the fishes mouth if they don't swallow it whole! very fun to watch! i love my fish and you should too!
The silver dollar is my favorite top feeder fish. i have my silver dollar with an angelfish, 3 plecos, a few loaches, an african knife, and a baby whale. my silver dollar is my most peaceful fish i have.

I have 5 3-4inch silver dollar fish in a 40g tank with natural day light and I have found them to be extremely tolerant fish of water conditions. They ate all my plants within a day and regularly feed them Spinach, lettuce and cucumber, they are extremely picky eaters when it comes to pellets and flake food. I have also recently experienced them not eating their food and praying on my tetras (this is rare but can happen as they are a the same species as piranha except they are vegetarian). They will also eat any baby fish you may have (witch can be good for population control). Extremely playful but shy with good memory, if someone scares them they will hide the next time that person is near the tank but will play happily when they leave. new2aquariums: My silver dollar fish have stopped eating I ran out of food last week and couldn't find the same one so i got a more expensive brand that had more nutrients for them they wouldn't touch it so I searched for the same one i had before and finally found it but they wont touch it either. I have recently had baby bristle nose pleco hatch of witch are all gone. should I worry just yet or could they be living on the baby's? (I thought they where vego's).
