Feb 27, 2015 - Catfish Ratings Return Down for the fourth season premiere of MTV's smash hit reality show.
Followed by a live after-show that drew a healthy 0.8 rating and 1.52 million viewers, the “Lauren and Derek” edition of “Catfish” posted a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating with 2.37 million viewers. Marking a second straight week of increased ratings, the numbers rank as the best for an original cable telecast Tuesday.

Harold has seen only one picture of Armani over a span of four years and he reveals that Armani has mothered a child after being impregnated by a jailbird. A web search for Armani's e-mail username pops up a basketball recruitment page with a girl named Tamila on it. When met with, Tamila is uncovered as the catfish who, hand-in-glove with her friend, monitor the Armani page while corroborating the facts to unususpecting males. Tamila is light-hearted about the situation, but reveals the next day that she is insecure. She and Harold part on an unpromising note. Neither appeared in the follow-up interview, but it is seen that Tamila has failed to elicit a response from Harold who says he has forgiven her, but is not interested in reestablishing contact with her. The Armani Brown page was yet to be deleted.

The newly inescapable buzzword known as "catfishing" is at least good news for its namesake. Ratings for MTV's Catfish: The TV Show jumped 30 percent with its first original episode since news of the on-topic Manti Te'o controversy broke last week.
Jumping from its previous week's showing of a 1.3 rating with adults 18-49, Nielsen shows the hourlong unscripted series matched a series high of a 1.7 rating with adults 18-49. It topped all other cable broadcasts in the key demo. In total viewers, Catfish also matched a high with 2.7 million viewers (up from 2.1 million).The last time MTV aired an original episode of Catfish, the series was riding a wave of new-found cultural relevance -- courtesy of the Manti Te'o scandal.
And while the docu-series had no such free publicity when it returned to the cable network on Tuesday night, its audience remained intact. The sophomore opener of Catfish: The TV Show averaged 2.5 million viewers during its 10 p.m. premiere.
