Do Amano Shrimp eat snail/fish eggs? - The Planted Tank Forum
You REALLY don't want your snails reproducing anyway, so you'd want your goldfish to eat the eggs. Hey it's free food!
Add animals to the pond that eat snails as part of their regular diets. The most common pond fish, the koi, will not eat the snails. Frogs and sterlets eat adult pond snails. Some smaller fish, such as mosquito fish, eat snail eggs. Sterlets can survive year-round outside in mild climates and in water temperatures of 52 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit. Mosquito fish also do well in mild climates with water temperatures of 65 to 75 degrees. Online and brick-and-mortar fish retailers sell these predators for your pond. In some regions, you can get mosquito fish from your local vendor or mosquito control agency for free.
Tired of Reading? Snail Eggs Hi Sorry to trouble you, I nolonger have the energy to keep reading to find my answers. We have anestablished tank with 2 Oscars, 1 small yellow unknown and 4 yellowsnails (species unknown also). Recently we found 2 growths near theroof of the tank (out of the water). I thought it was due to badhousekeeping and promptly removed them however there are now another 2growths back same area but situated differently. They appear to becylindrical in shape, about 3cm long and 1 cm width and depth. They area brown/white colour and there are a lot of round "bubbles".We do regular testing and all levels are normal however our snails doventure out regularly above the water line - I'm just assumingthey're adventurous. Upon assuming this, I'm also hoping thatthese "growths" are snail eggs? If not, what? If so, any ideahow long before they hatch? Would love to see them before the Oscarseat them. On a side note, when we first introduced the snails, it wasquite a sight to see one of the Oscars suck on a snail and take it tothe other side of the tank. I thank you very much for any feed back youcan give me. Kind Regards Trish Nasty Snails Hello. I have a small tank with twogoldfish and several snails in it. I'm not sure of their type butthey are about 4cms long and have pale brown shells.

Many fish eat the eggs: most catfish, loaches and cichlids
Many young snails might die within the first weeks of their existence, but those who survive grow quickly. At a size of 2.5 cm /1 inch (2-5 months) in case of and , they are able to reproduce and the next generation will appear if you don't remove their eggs in time. From the day they hatch, the young snails eat the same as their parents, so there is no need for special babysnail-food. Keep in mind, however, that it's often difficult for a young snail to obtain enough food in a completely clean tank. The long distances they need to walk in such case to reach the food could simply be too much. As a result of this, it's often easier to raise little apple snails in a tank with algae on the walls so the little snails have enough food (algae) without traveling all around. The young apple snails can stay in the same aquarium together with their parents without being eaten by them as long as there is enough food available. However, larger fish with preference for (little) snails can be a reason to keep the young ones in a separated aquarium until they have grown somewhat bigger. If one plans to transfer the little snail to a separate tank, be sure that their new environment is already a somewhat stable eco-system. In other words: put 1/3 water from a pond or another aquarium with 2/3 fresh water and let the new tank stand for 2-3 weeks with vegetation, without other inhabitants before adding little snails. Such approach certainly increases the success rate with raising young snails. And last, but not least: algae and debris might not be appealing to the human eye, however it's certainly appreciated by the little snails. What other fish do you have in this tank? Platys tend to eat the snail eggs as long as you don't overfeed your fish, but don't count on this as a solution.
