They can be kept with goldfish when the goldies are small, but larger goldfish may eat them. Juvenile dojo/weather loaches will also do well with the white clouds. But like the goldfish, larger fish will eat the minnows.
The best substrate for white cloud minnows is either a small grain gravel or sand. With that being said, this fish doesn’t have any special requirements and most types of substrate will be fine. They should also be provided with either live or fake plants to scatter their eggs in, with being the best choice. will provide a safe place for the eggs to be placed, and once the fry are hatched, it’s dense makeup will ensure that the fry are sheltered, and they can eat the infusoria growing on the moss.

Also known as the White Cloud Mountain Minnow, this fish originates from the gorges of the White Cloud Mountains of China. This easy-to-keep minnow will do well in the community aquarium with other peaceful fish. The hardy and colorful Golden White Cloud adapts well to less-than-perfect water conditions, making it an ideal choice for beginning aquarists.At first, when I had 7 of these cuties, they seemed like perfect little angels. They were living quite contentedly with my betta. However, I woke up yesterday, and he was dead. Fins were torn, he was bloody, etc. None of the white clouds had a scratch on them. (Please note that this wasn't immediate, they were together for almost two weeks before this.) Since I didn't see what happened, I can't absolutely confirm this, but I'm 99% sure that those white clouds tormented him and nipped at him until he died.
